We continue our Specific Alphabet Series with Songs That Start With K. K is the eleventh letter in the alphabet of 26 as we know them today. K is also the first letter in the name of the person, who got me to put my musical thoughts into writing and post them in this blog. She is a food blogger and the brains behind a few blogs. So, thanks to her, Music Jug was born, and you are here reading this post and many others to follow.
The next 26 songs you are going to be reading about and hopefully listen to, are great songs starting with the letter K. On this playlist, we have chosen the songs to be a total of 26 songs and do you know why? Yes, it’s that simple, it’s because we have a total of 26 alphabets. Also, we have spiced things up a little bit by not just including popular songs, but songs across a variety of genres. So, on these songs that start with the letter K get ready to hear a song or two for the first time. Without further ado, let’s dive into this exciting playlist.
Karma – Alicia Keys
First up is "Karma" by Alicia Keys. This is an R&B song from Swizz Beatz wife’s 2003 album The Diary of Alicia Keys. This 5 letter word beginning with k song was written by Alicia, Teneisha Smith, and Kerry Brothers Jr. who also produced it.
In the song, Alicia was reflecting on the consequences of actions taken by someone she was dating. She is confused by the mixed messages he was sending. Karma Man is set in a circus, as David Bowie sings about a spiritual person in a lonely tent who seems able to tell the future. “Karma Man” is a philosophical song by Bowie produced by Tony Visconti. It was released on the album The World of David Bowie. Although not one of David’s most popular songs, it is still a very enjoyable song to have on your playlist.
Kashmir – Led Zeppelin
Have you ever traveled outside your comfort zone? My experience with traveling to Saudi Arabia was a great one. Even though I did not speak a single word of Arabia at the time, the people were so welcoming.
Kashmir describes a journey through the mystical landscape of Kashmir. It is not clear whether the group was singing about the good times they had in Kashmir, India or just metaphorically speaking.
“Kashmir” is a hard rock song by Led Zeppelin from their 1975 album Physical Graffiti. It was written by Robert Plant, John Bonham, and Jimmy Page who also produced it. This song that starts with K combines powerful instrumentation with captivating storytelling, creating a mesmerizing and atmospheric musical experience. A fun fact: Rapper Puff Daddy sampled this song in“Come With Me” for the soundtrack of Godzilla.
Kedike – Chidinma
"Kedike" by Chidinma is a Nigerian Afrobeats song from her 2012 self-titled debut album. This song pre-dates the global appeal of Afrobeats as a mainstream genre. Now the likes of WizKid, Davido and Burna Boy have put Afrobeat on the global pedestal.
On this 6 letter word starting with K song, Chidinma expresses her joy and excitement of being in love. She professes her love to the guy by describing her emotion and romantic feelings toward him. Kedike is a word used to describe one heartbeat rhythm when around someone you love, those butterfly moments.

"Keep It Right There" is one of two Diana Ross songs we could feature on this playlist. However, since we have limited this K songs playlist to 26, we decided that no two songs would feature the same artist. The other song on our mind is “Kiss Me Now.”
We have gone for “Keep It Right There” because this is a pop superstar artist doing a mainstream R&B song. This song is the 6th song from the 1995 album Take Me Higher. It was co-written by Babyface and produced by Jon-John. Diana expresses her wish to have a passionate and intimate night with her lover. She wanted her man to take control of her and command her to do whatever he want through the night. This is a captivating love song you can play when you are home alone with your significant other. The rest is history as they say.
Keep On Keepin On – MC Lyte
"Keep On Keepin' On" is a 90s hip-hop song by MC Lyte featuring the female group Xscape. It was released as a single from the 1996 album Bad As I Wanna B. Now this song is all about “knockin the boots.”
MC Lyte was throwing a challenge to the man in her life, asking him if he can please her just the way she would like to be pleased. This is not about buying gifts or flowers, or even giving her money. You need to listen to the song and figure out what she wants.
"Keep On Keepin On" landed MC Lyte are only Billboard Hot 100 top ten hits. Produced by Jermaine Dupri and Carl So-Lowe, this song sampled “Liberian Girl” by Michael Jackson. It is no doubt one of the most popular songs in her discography.
Keep Their Heads Ringin’ – Dr. Dre
If you are throwing a hip-hop theme party and your DJ is not spinning this record, then I would ask for my money back. Just writing about this song got me busting a move.
Have you seen the movie Friday? If not I would recommend it. It is a movie featuring Ice Cube and Chris Tucker. The song "Keep Their Heads Ringin'" by Dr. Dre is featured on the soundtrack of the movie.
Every rap in the music industry brags about being the best or one of the best alive on a record. This was Dr. Dre boasting about his success, dominance, and influence in rap music culture. I can’t blame him because he is a genius and one of the best to ever do it. industry. This song is co-produced with Sam Sneed and it peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Kerosene – Miranda Lambert
"Kerosene" by Miranda Lambert is a country song about empowerment and liberation. The lyrics depict a woman who's had enough of being mistreated and underestimated. She finds her strength and takes control of her life, metaphorically igniting herself like kerosene to burn away the negativity and stand tall in her newfound independence.
Personally, I don’t give up on love because when you find someone you are connected to, it is the best thing that could ever happen to you. However, I understand where Miranda is coming from. When you always end up with the wrong person you would want to say never again.
Kerosene is a country song by Miranda Lambert from her 2005 album called Kerosene. Miranda sings about being fed up with love due to so many heartbreaks. So she was going to torch the word love out of her life and never fall in love again.
This is an upbeat country song that starts with the letter K . If you are in a similar situation and just want to move on, then this is the motivational song to do that. But please do try love again, there is somebody out there for you.
Khona – Mafikizolo Featuring Uhuru
South Africans have got the best dance routines in the world. If you don’t believe us, you can start by watching the music video of this song. "Khona" by Mafikizolo featuring Uhuru is a South African House song. Whenever I throw this on at a club on that Pioneer DDJ-1000SRT, it’s a vibe.
The song celebrates love and togetherness and Khona means I’ll be there in Zulu language which is a prominent language in South Africa. We love the musical video because it showcases African art. The clothes patterns, the dance steps the colors of the house, and lots more make it a must-watch video. We all face the pressures of life at some point in our lives, and the best way I personally deal with them is by listening to my favorite tunes.
Kill The Noise is a hard rock song released in 2021 as a single for their 2022 album Ego Trip. The song peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Hot Hard Rock Songs making it a very successful single.
They sing about getting rid of the distraction and getting one’s life back on track. This is a hard rock song that can help you refocus if you even needed to. When you are facing those challenges of life and want to be free, listen to music and find that inner strength to plunge ahead.
Kill You – Eminem
Not all songs starting with the letter K are happy songs or party songs, some of them are raw and revengeful and one of such songs is Kill You by Eminem.
Eminem’s 2000 album The Marshall Mathers starts off with a public service announcement by Jeff Bass. Then came the first track of the album called “Kill You.” In the lyrics, you can hear Eminem’s aggression and anger. He used several offensive language and painted violent imagery for the audience.
There are two other songs by Em that also start with K and are just as dark as Kill You. They are “Killshot” released in 2018 and “Kim” which happens to be a track on The Marshall Mathers Album and featured on our Saddest Rap Songs post. "Killer Queen" is a song by the British Rock band Queen from their 1974 album Sheer Heart Attack. Queen & Roy Thomas Baker produced this song written by the lead singer F. Mercury.
This is a rock song about a seductive and dangerous woman who had an act of enticing and captivating her prey. The lyrics describe the woman as someone with mesmerizing eyes and fatal charm.
Killer Queen peaked at number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1975 and got to number 2 on the Official UK Charts. Listen to this song and see if you can read between the lines of the lyrics.
Killing In The Name – Rage Against The Machine
If you are looking for a protest song for what you perceive as injustice then this is the song for you. "Killing in the Name" by Rage Against the Machine is a song released in their 1992 self-titled debut album.
It is a powerful protest song that criticizes the government of the day against police brutality. The group used this song to demand justice for those cut in the middle of this inequality. This is now an anthem for activists demanding and fighting for change in the social and political scene.

"Killing Me Softly" is an R&B song by The Fugees. On this track, it is only the voices of Lauryn Hill and Wyclef we could hear, although Pras was in the video.
Lauryn Hill tells a story of when a woman heard someone sing and was deeply moved by his performance. She felt emotionally connected to the boy and his soulful music. This shows that music is life and life is music, when you hear music that tickles your soul, you feel connected.
This song starting with K is a cover of Roberta Flack’s song called Killing Me Softly With His Song. The music video was filmed at a cinema, and the group could be seen watching a movie about themselves. This was a number-one hit song for the group globally and it spent 5 weeks at the top of the UK Charts.
King Nothing – Metallica
If you could be king for one day what type of king would you be? Produced by Lars Ulrich, James Hetfield, and Bob Rock, "King is Nothing" by Metallica is a heavy metal song. It is the fifth song on their 1996 album Load.
The song seems to be mocking a King who had everything he ever want but then he lost it all. He lost his people, he lost the fame and he lost the wealth. The lesson here is not to be consumed by one’s desire for power and material things. Rather than that, take care of the people around you.
The music video was shot during winter as the band could be seen playing in the open. If you are a fan of heavy metal then this is definitely for you. If you are not, then listen to it with an open mind and you would understand why it makes our list.
King Of The Dancehall – Beenie Man
Our first dancehall entry to this list of songs beginning with K is "King of the Dancehall" by Beenie Man. This song title is befitting of Beenie Man because he is truly a king of the dancehall. Beenie Man has several hit songs and to date, most of them are still being played at parties and clubs.
Two years ago during covid lockdown, Beenie Man featured alongside Bounty Killer for Verzuz. Verzuz is where two artists come together to show 20 songs each from their catalog.
King Of The Dancehall is the second single of the 2004 album Back To Basics. On this song, Beenie celebrated his talent and dominance in the dancehall genre. If you don’t have this song in your music catalog, find it on any of the music platforms, crack the volume up, and get ready to dance.
Kiss And Make Up – Dua Lipa and Blackpink
Next on our playlist is "Kiss and Make Up" by UK artist Dua Lipa featuring the K-Pop girl group BlackPink. This is a song about someone who is tired of all the excuses the boyfriend is given and is ready to forgive. She would like to reconcile and make amends after a disagreement in their relationship.
The character referred to in the lyrics just wants to be loved. She was looking for a great relationship with someone special. Produced by Banx and Ranx, "Kiss and Make Up" released in 2017 peaked at 36 on the UK charts. It is a great record to spin at those pop-themed parties.
Kiss From A Rose – Seal
Seal first released "Kiss from a Rose" on his 1994 album Seal II. In this love ballad, Seal sings about love so deep it feels like he is on drugs.
Seal re-released "Kiss From a Rose" as a theme song for the movie Batman Forever in 1995 which boasted its popularity. If you have seen the movie, you would recall the song playing in a love scene between Val Kilmer and Nicole Kidman. Joel Schumacher directed the music video which featured scenes from the Batman movie.
Kiss From A Rose did very well across global charts, it hit the number one spot on the Billboard Chart and 4 in the UK. Seal has 4 Grammy wins to his name, 3 of them are for this song. Kiss From A Rose won Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, Song Of The Year, and Record Of The Year.
Kiss Kiss – Chris Brown featuring T-Pain
The noughties saw the making of many R&B starts that we love up to date. One of them is Chris Brown who busted onto the music scene in 2005 with a song called “Run It” which peaked at the top of the charts.
“Kiss Kiss” is the second single and the second song on his second album Exclusive. Released in 2007, it featured T-Pain and this R&B song earned Chris Brown his second Billboard number-one song. This song was released during an era when all songs featuring T-Pain were a commercial success story.
Produced by T-Pain, this song is about a guy who is trying to wow a girl at school. He boasted about what he has and how good he looks and can’t understand why the girl is not just falling into his arms. The music video was filmed at a school. There were scenes from a basketball match, a school car park, and the hallway. In the music video, the girl Chris Brown the baller was trying to wow, went for the calm and nerdy version of CB. "Kiss Me More" by Doja Cat and SZA is an R&B and pop song from Doja’s third album Planet Her. We find this song to be sensual and catchy as it explores the excitement of love and control felt by the girls.
If you are not into explicit lyrics then you need to be looking for the radio edit of this song. SZA has her own song that begins with K “Kill Bill” which is also a great song. It is not featured on this playlist due to the rule of the playlist.
Kiss My (Uh-Oh) – Ann-Marie featuring Little Mix
"Kiss My (Uh-Oh)" is a collaboration pop song by Anne-Marie and Little Mix. Little Mix is a girl group put together on a British TV show called X Factor while Ann-Marie is an American singer born in Chicago.
Kiss My (Uh-Oh) is a song about girls moving on from a failing romantic “situationship.” The artist says goodbye to those boys who waste girls’ time in a relationship. They seem to be sending a message saying enough is enough and it’s time to move on. You can make up your mind about what “Uh Oh” means.
Many people can relate to this song when they feel like the guy is just there for the ride not showing commitment in the relationship. The song was a top 10 hit song in the UK and did well across Europe too.
Kiss N Tell – Ke$ha
Have you ever been in a relationship where love and trust don’t exist anymore and you are tired of the constant drama? Well, this song is exacting that. "Kiss N Tell" is a song by the pop singer Ke$ha from her 2010 album Animal.
Not all songs with "kiss" in the title is about someone eulogizing about a partner. Ke$ha tells a story of a cheating boyfriend who while she was away could not remain faithful to her.
